The Effects of Consumerism on the Environment
By Mia Den Haan
We are at present in a situation where the planet’s ecology is not coping with all the pollution because of a huge, continuously increasing, consumer demand. This excessive demand for consumer goods has created most of the current ecological imbalances. These ecological imbalances will become a much greater problem than most people expect this to be. These imbalances have already caused ecological disasters in different places all over the world, with many more to follow.

EnvironmentThe ProblemBy Artur VictoriaFacing a crisis is widespread civilization. The search for a new paradigm of coexistence of a relationship with the Earth as pact of society to respect and preserve everything that exists has life. We must again have hope of solution, and only from this change makes sense to start thinking of alternatives. The symptoms of this crisis are reflected in all directions: Building Energy ConservationGovernment Gets Out the Wrong Ideas About Green BuildingBy Himfr PaulEnergy, water and materials, and land-based green building, is only in recent years a new concept, the promotion process, and some green building name only, and some simply "pseudo-green building", some even confusing and difficult to promote. Habitat Restoration is a Government IssueBy Dennis Sons A habitat is the natural environment in which the plant species exists, and it comprises of complex interactions between the plants and animals, and their physical environment. The evolution of habitat for a particular species takes a long time, even ranging to thousands of years. This makes it imperative for us to preserve the existing habitats and balance the ecosystem. Restoration is the only option in case of habitats where losses or damage has already occurred. Habitat restoration would firstly require the disturbed habitats to be identified and then restoring of the native flora and fauna. Restoration of a habitat is difficult and a long-term process that involves re-generating the conditions that are essential for a particular habitat to exist. Many problems are encountered, like managing exotic and invasive species, problematic soils and variations in population.
